What's Next

In this fast-paced world we live in our potential effectiveness is often judged by others on our appearance. Fair or not, when you don't look your best or when you look older than you are, your friends, employees and potential suitors subconsciously place you in a category you may not find exactly flattering. You look in the mirror and wish you looked as good as you felt. If only there was some way you could lose those jowls and tighten your upper neck without being out of action for weeks and spending a lot in the process. Well, now there is, and it's a relatively new procedure called SwiftLift

WHAT IS SWIFTLIFT™?

Double purse-string suture. The blue and red lines combined indicate the incision for the traditional facelift. The Red line is where the incision for the SwiftLift is made.
SwiftLiftis a revolutionary one-hour out-patient procedure that is a modification of today's standard facelift and is fast becoming the state-of-the-art procedure for sagging skin of the lower face.

SwiftLiftis a surgical procedure which uses a minimal access incision in the front of the ear to insert a permanent purse-string suture which attaches to the cheek bone in front of the ear. This is the strongest structure in the face and allows a long-lasting lifting of the tissue of the mid face, jowls, and upper neck when tightened. The correction is especially noticeable for the jowls and the marionette (drool) lines. Your skin will continue to age but you will never again have the sagging you had before your surgery.

WHAT SWIFTLIFT ISN'T

A SwiftLift is not the "mini-lift" which tightens the skin only. It tightens the deeper structures of the lower face which assures a long-lasting result. It is not a procedure which addresses problems with the brows, eyelids, or wrinkles in those areas. Additional procedures may be performed including eyelid surgery, forehead lift, chemical peels, laser resurfacingand BOTOX® Cosmetic.

A SwiftLift will improve the jowls, the marionette (drool) lines and the upper neck. Marionette lines are the deep lines that run from the corner of the mouth to the chin and are difficult to eliminate with standard procedures.

HOW IS SWIFTLIFT™ DIFFERENT FROM THE STANDARD FACELIFT?

A SwiftLiftincision is about one-half the length of a regular faceliftincision. There is a very little, if any, incision behind the ear because it is not necessary with this procedure. The surgical time involved is shorter, resulting in less swelling, less bruising and, therefore, a faster recovery. Typical recovery time is a few days to a week.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

Any surgical procedure carries risks and they are thoroughly discussed prior to surgery. There is some risk of scarring, but Dr. Vincent is an experienced cosmetic surgeon and will make every effort to hide these incisions and make them inconspicuous. They should be hard to find after a few months. Bleeding and infection are possible but uncommon. They are handled if they arise and usually result in no permanent damage. Slight numbness is always temporary. Hair or skin loss can occur but are less common than with a standard facelift.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE AND WHEN SHOULD I CONSIDER THIS PROCEDURE?

When you look in the mirror and notice how much you're starting to look like your mother...you're a candidate. When you look in the mirror and your eyes immediately go to those deep lines around your mouth, jowls, or that gathering skin under your chin...you're a candidate. When your friends and co-workers start saying you look like you need a vacation, but you just took one...you're a candidate. In short, when you simply want to look like you did 10 to 15 years ago, or don't want to go through the inevitable seven stages of man without a fight...you're a candidate.
